Meet Our Board Members!

My name is Shannon Field and I am the president, Lead Instructor and Co-Founder of Sim'ya Ukrainian Society. I started this group alongside my mom as we both have a love for our Ukrainian culture and sharing our knowledge especially through dance.

My name is Tamantha Makulowich-Jones (M.J. to most), I've been a Ukrainian dancer for about 8 years and I am the Treasurer of Sim'ya, though I'm ready to step in wherever help is needed!

My name is Monique Edgar, I am the Vice-President of Sim’ya Ukrainian Society. I am the Junior instructor and currently teach students from age 2-13. My dance experience started with ballet, which gave me a strong base to share with my classmates and students, and now I am in my 9th year of Ukrainian dance. Outside the dance classroom you can find me working as a substitute teacher and enjoying a variety of crafts such as crocheting and Ukrainian cross stitching.

Hello my name is Tammy Makulowich, I've been a member of Sim'ya's board since the beginning! I help out where needed; costuming, fundraising and events. I enjoy supporting Sim'ya, who show case Ukrainian dance, crafts and culture. And food... delicious food!

My name is Tania Hadym, and I am the Secretary and Artistic Director for Sim'ya Ukrainian Society. I started Ukrainian Dance at the age of 3 and haven't stopped since. I believe that it is important to share my culture with my community and love doing so. I am always looking forward to share my knowledge with everyone.

I'm Michele Huston, Senior Instructor and Co-Founder of Sim'ya Ukrainian Society, and I'm thrilled to share my passion for Ukrainian culture with you. As a proud 2nd Generation Canadian Ukrainian, I feel privileged to pass on my extensive knowledge and experience to our talented instructors and dancers. Growing up in a family deeply rooted in Ukrainian traditions, I was fortunate to start dancing at a young age with Kamloops' own Sosna Ukrainian Dancers. This sparked a lifelong love affair with Ukrainian culture, which I've had the joy of sharing through teaching dance, history, cooking, and arts for many years. I'm dedicated to keeping our rich cultural heritage alive and am excited to share it with anyone eager to learn!

My name is Zonia. I enjoy teaching and sharing my knowledge of ancient Ukrainian cultural traditions, crafts, history, and the Ukrainian language. I play the Bandura and the Soplilka. I enjoy supporting the Ukrainian Dancers, promoting Ukrainian culture, language and history to the community.
